It was a summer camp. There was a girl aged about 3.5 years, who was crying for paints, colours, brush, drawing sheets. The other kids of the summer camp were very happily getting ready to compete in the event. All the kids started to draw and were occupied.
But this small girl was continuously weeping for colours. After sometime, the mother got the small girl some colour pencils, drawing sheets paints etc. The small girl who was crying , got involved so well within no time that she started mixing colours, drawing some pictures, filling colours of her own choice. Those small cute fingers which were holding the paint brush was so good to see. The girl’s mother was standing in a corner and was overwhelmed by the way the kid was enjoying her enthusiasm.
Most of the time mother will console and convince their small kids and make them stop crying and this mother was not different at all. She also gave all the necessary materials that the kid should stop crying. After some time, there was a twist in the event. The 3.5 years old kid had drawn a wonderful and a beautiful picture of its own thoughts. The mother, the camp participants, organisers and others were shocked to see that art.
Imagine, what if the mother had not given the materials to the kid?
As parents and teachers we need to encourage our kids to explore their talents and thoughts. Small kids will be blessed with ample of talents. As elders we have to identify and boost their interest, fill confidence in them. Allow the kids to explore each and every form of art and co-curricular activities. Exposure to these activities will definitely make them more creative.
Many parents complain about their wards not excelling in their academics.
Give it a different thought! Why are they not?
Academic excellence is not everyone’s cup of tea. Parental pressure, teacher pressure, peer pressure and most of all, the relative’s pressure is hectic on the children. Children with talents are truly blessed. Encourage the kids to overcome their disability of not having the privilege to showcase their hidden talent.
Every child is unique and will be blessed with one or the other strength. All kids are gifted but we have to discover, uncover , nurture and encourage them to explore and embrace their strengths.
